RESTLESS
My thoughts are lost on a dark country road.
I'm eager to arrive at my destination,
Yet the landmarks are all wrong.
Eyes straining, neck curving – keep an eye out for deer!
I’m driving too fast; I know it.
I need to breathe.
The grade of the road screams “Caution!”
Yet, I race ahead of my train of thought.
One turn, taken too sharply -
The gravel of my intentions crunches as the tires spin.
I lurch into the ditch.
There's no airbag to save me.
Blackness.
